How To Bind and Loose In Prayer: Understanding Spiritual Authority

What it means to be a royal priesthood:

In the bible, the scepter and the crown spiritually symbolize the authority and royalty of Christ, and His followers. To have authority means to have dominion, power, rule, and reign. This authority can not be stolen unless one were to give it away. According to 1 Peter 2:9, believers are called and chosen to be a part of a royal priesthood. Do not question the authority that God has given to you.

Binding and Loosing - The power of the tongue:

Matthew 18:18 shows what spiritual authority is used for.

Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
— Matthew 18:18, NKJV

Whatever is bound in the name of Jesus must obey and be bound up exactly as commanded. Whatever is loosed in the name of Jesus must obey and be loosed exactly as commanded. To bind means to tie up, fasten, chain up, or secure tightly. No demon can move about freely if Godly authority is used to properly bind them. Authority, paired with sober vigilance, not only binds the enemy once, but keeps the enemy bound due to the believer's ability to pay attention and watch closely for infiltration. Once the enemy is bound, the believer can then lose life, abundance, and prosperity as the will of the Father gives utterance. Think of it like this - authority is the firepower and sober vigilance is the fuel to keep the fire burning. Where the fire of God burns and words of authority are spoken - death can not stay, and life must come forth - proverbs 18:21 proves this.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
— Proverbs 18:21, AMP

When binding and loosing a thing, it is vital to understand how powerful the tongue is because it is the tool used when executing spiritual authority. The tongue is essentially the conduit to bring authoritative power into the earth. In this verse, Solomon uses the word consequence - The simple definition of consequence is a RESULT. There are only two offered results that God gives us - life or death. Remember the spiritual scepter? The King of Kings has given every believer a scepter and royal crown to match - it is up to us to utilize them properly to bring forth life and cast out death

How To Bind and loose Properly:

Prayer is a great way to implement authority, and when binding and loosing - specificity is key. The Spirit of the Lord guides us to speak, decree, and declare every specified detail and pray in the manner that brings forth His perfect will. Below is an example of a prayer to spiritually bind and loose.
